Music for Films
A BRIEF HISTORY
Studied as a classical pianist and chorister

After leaving school became a recording session keyboardist and arranger, working largely in house for Trident Studios, recording and arranging for artists including Julian Lennon, Donovan, Ian Gillan, Rusty Egan (Visage) /Spear of Destiny and Demis Roussos.


Also played in various bands including Yes, with whom he recorded the classic album 90125, produced by Trevor Horn.

1986 Moved to Los Angeles, signing as songwriter to Warner Chappell music, spent 5 years in LA acquiring the basic comprehension of the art of film scoring. At the same time continued his studio work, playing keyboards and synthesizers for renowned producer David Foster, and recording in France with various artists including Jaques Higelin, Kassav and Diane Dufresne. Formed a long term working relationship over 25 years with French Disco supremo Cerrone, writing and arranging 8 albums, also acting as Musical Director for a series of shows in France and Japan, including playing at Versailles and at Live 8.

 

Subsequent record projects in the UK included playing piano and creating string arrangements for Martin Fry (ABC) Tom Jones and Tina Turner.

1990 began working exclusively in film and tv, starting with multiple television commercials and
documentaries for the BBC. Scored first short feature, The Ticket (Dir.Richard Murphey) and
assisted Marc Cerrone with the score to Dancing Machine.


1995 assisted legendary arranger / composer Paul Buckmaster with score to Terry Gilliam's
Twelve Monkeys and Most Wanted (New Line Pictures).


1998 composed first solo features- Betty (Dir Richard Murphey) & Aldrich Ames:Traitor
Within (Dir John Mackenzie). During the same period, in addition to movie projects, was engaged by the BBC, Channel 4 and other channels with documentary and drama. Projects included Mysteries of the Ancients, Growing up Wild, Looking after Jojo (BBC -Dir John Mackenzie) & Myra:The making of a Monster. 


2006 Working with Marc Cerrone created the score for a Paris production of A Clockwork
Orange at the Cirque, Hiver. Adapted by Alexandre Berdat and Nicholas Lager Laserre, script by Thierry Harcourt starring Isabelle Pasco and Sagamore Stevenin.


2008/2009 Created Songs and score for London theatre production of Exposure- The
Musical staged in 2016 at St James Theatre, London. Director Phil Willmott, starring Michael
Greco.

Using a combination of classical composition techniques/real instrumentation/synthesizers and
samplers developed an individual style. Film projects from this period include Shaka Zulu:The
Citadel, Renaissance(Co-composed with Nicholas Dodd) House of 9, Post Impact,(co-
composed with Guy Farley) and, Body Armour, Blood Monkey, The Hive, In the Spiders Web,
Croc. Television projects included 2 seasons of Steven Seagal’s True Justice, 5 cartoon films in
the Jasper the Mule series. Also produced TV commercials for companies
including Porsche, Samsung, Land Rover, Sony Playstation and BluRay

2017 Scored Gaumont's The Mansion (Dir. Tony Datis). More recent movie projects in France include the comedies Divorce Club (2020 Dir. Michael Youn), Je te veux moi non plus and Les Bodins en Thailande (2021Dir. Frederic Forestier;  #1 at the French Box office).

TV projects include fantasy mini-series Le Talisman (2020) and comedy/drama series Frerots, Morning Night (2021). Documentaries include Dieuleveult, les disparus du fleuve and Uderzo, sur le divan d’Asterix’ (Dir.Yannick Saillet).


2023 UK projects included short feature Supercharged , and in France a second season
of Morning Night and feature comedy BDE (2023 Dir. Michael Youn).


2024  Les Infaillbles (Dir. Frederic Forestier) was #1 streaming film on Amazon in France. 
Recently completed for 2025 Les Bodins Departent En Vrille. (Dir. Frederic Forestier) a sequel to the highly successful Les Bodins en Thailande (2021).


Upcoming projects include a musical theatre production of Friends for London’s West End, and new films for directors Tony Datis and Michael Youn.
